moon pearls

the year rushed in with beauty and grace. music, travel, friends and family. i feel blessed to live a big, wide life that takes me to places with love in every port… and the beat goes on…

as we move towards spring, I think of these words of an old friend:

Night for Loving

Deeper, darker our love grows

and the wind swept

full up through March,

calling with the tide

for us to follow it,

and our nights

are strung like moon pearls.

this is a spring poem. it reminds me of cool march nights under a full moon, in another time but in the same place in my heart. today that feeling is just as it was then, and the memories of those nights are strung like moon pearls.

life today has all the romance it ever had. a beautiful, crooked journey through the heart, filled with joy, coincidence, pain and pleasure. i find myself more open, more joyful and more free as the years go by. what have we got to lose?

the van Gogh Brothers recorded three new songs for our new album— held yet again— with dave minehan engineering and co-producing, at Woolly Mammoth in boston. we are all marveling at the sound david brings out of the band and we think these new tracks stand as tall or taller than the rest of the record. as if that wasn’t enough, we decided to throw one more track into the mix and will record that one in early march. my personal feeling about this body of work is we should do what’s needed to make it as perfect and complete as possible, so holding its release until september seems perfectly acceptable, especially since we plan to do some radio and press promotion to push the release a little. in the meantime, our publisher, Heavy Hitters, picked up another track from the album, “Glimpse of Heaven.” hopefully we’ll see some action on Glimpse.

we return to Vincent’s Worcester on saturday, march 16th, as the O’Gogh Brothers, for a St. Patrick’s Day blowout, which i think we’ve done for the last three years.

i’ll be traveling here and there between now and then. hope to see you somewhere out there as we go.
